Jerome Haywood

Bio

Jerome Haywood joins the New Mexico Chupacabras as Interim Head Coach after serving on the University of New Mexico football staff since 2020. Before UNM, he spent two seasons at San Diego State as the defensive quality control coach and assistant on-campus recruiting coordinator under Rocky Long. A former standout defensive lineman, Haywood enjoyed an eight-year professional career in the Canadian Football League before transitioning into coaching. He earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from San Diego State in 2002. Haywood and his wife, Talia, have four children.
